Finally the big date, 08/08/08.
Personally I don't get what the big fuss is about, yeah I get that its good luck & things like that but come on.. Its just a date after all. How a series of numbers can affect your fortune is beyond me. Though it must have meant something pretty special to all those people who got married/registered today, which according to
Pabo is A LOT of people.
So congratulations to all of you, extra to those who managed to make the time work as well.
Since I don't have marriage on the mind right now, I was thinking of following
Chel &
Sammy to visit
Deb's grandma today. But it turned out that I couldn't cause I had to stay home & take care of the kids. Mum & Dad had a wedding
(yes another one of those) to go to in the afternoon so I had to be at home with them.
All was not lost though as I ended up having a really great time baking with
Chel &
Sammy. They came over to bake cupcakes for
Deb's grandma. After looking through some recipes we decided on Earl Grey cupcakes with satin icing. MMmm.. Yummy.
This is where the improvisations kick in. First of all, I don't think the tea we used was even Earl Grey tea, but it was better than using some Teh Harimau that they saw when they went to the mart to pick up some ingredients. & it turned out that one squeezed lemon isn't enough for 5 tablespoons. && apparently, the eggs in my house have really round yolks according to
Sammy. The last one isn't a bad thing, I think.
All in all it came out pretty well, though we couldn't really taste the tea, the icing had a right amount of lemon-ey & we managed to make really nice Smarties like colours for the icing. We even had time to decorate them & take pictures. As usual right?
Just realised that we didn't manage to take any pictures of the process but anyway, there's already more than enough as it is. :)
just ice-d cupcakes.
Sammy contemplating which one to sample first. we got all creative with edible black 'ink'.
