Spent the past few days shuttling back & forth from my place to my aunty's place in Subang where the rest of my family also gathered for reasons that involved adjourning to tea, dinner or even a late night mamak session. Not to mention my parents have been occupied the past few nights with some function or other.
Which, don't get me wrong, is a pretty damn good thing considering my sister & I get to be totally candid with our relatives without the fear of our parents breathing down our necks. & candid we were, talking & joking about topics that previously would have left my parents feeling embarrassed for god knows what reason.
The day after the whole Pyramid outing we headed over to my aunty's place firstly because they had planned to have a potluck for dinner. It only makes sense, since everyone is gonna end up there anyway, why not bring food along right? Which brings me to reason no. 2, because everyone was going to be present, my aunty decided to invite her daughter's future in laws to go over the temple hall ceremony with all of us so that we wouldn't be lost during the proceedings which, after today, is in 6 days time.
After church the next day we were supposed to head over to the shop for our saree blouse fitting but we ended up meeting everyone in Asia Cafe first to have brunch. Later, a few of us left to the shop while the rest headed back to my aunt's place. However, after all those days of patiently waiting & the reassurances that everything would be finished on time, the shop was closed when we got there. Partly our fault for not calling first & checking to see if they were open, but it was stated on the card they gave us that the shop would be open. Not to mention we had checked with them numerous times when they took our measurements.
Disappointed, we went back to Subang to bring my aunty to Pyramid to collect her dress that she had had altered the other day. After walking around a bit, we left cause the parents needed to go back home & get ready for yet another dinner. Needless to say, we tried to convince them to leave us in my aunty's place instead of going home. They weren't thrilled with the idea at first, giving excuses such as Andrea not having any change of clothes & if you can believe it, that we had housework to do at home.
Of all the underhanded forms of trickery, giving fabricated excuses truly is the parents forte. Only later did we find out the REAL reason, when they 'reminded' us that we should move away from our cousins when they choose to start smoking. Uh.. Yeah, I don't care.
Surprisingly, we won that battle. However, we're of the opinion that it was because Andrea was the one who showed face & was throwing a fit. No matter, we got what we wanted & when we returned to Subang we were greeted by applause. Talk about satisfying.
It's a rainy rainy holiday today. My dad's gone off to have a golf game with my uncle's so my mum, aunty, Koler & I decide to give it another shot at the saree blouse place. & just to show that we learnt from our mistake, my mum called them up first to double check if they were open.
So yeah, made some adjustments but the blouse fits & next on the list was to go threading in Klang so we're throughly de-man-ed before the wedding but mainly for Koler who's prom is tomorrow.
After the many complications & the irritating rain, we now have nicely shaped eyebrows & bald upper lips. It has been something that I've wanted to do for ages & I finally did. Blame my dad & his 18th century thinking.
But seriously, being my first time I gotta say it hurt like hell & it was worst because I hadn't done it before. I feel its something that you need to get used to though & I can't wait to go again :D
